Jets GM Joe Douglas Is Unwilling To Admit That QB Zack Wilson Is A Mistake
When the New York Jets began the 2023 NFL season, they said unequivocally that they planned to compete for a Super Bowl.
Fans hoped that the addition of four-time MVP Aaron Rodgers would propel the Jets to a level not seen in 55 years.

Instead, as the season enters Week 4, the repercussions from Rodgers’ Achilles rupture have left Jets players and coaches fielding questions from the organization’s last Super Bowl champion.

This week, Hall of Famer Joe Namath offered venomous comments on social media and on the New York-based YES Network. After a “disgusting” performance, Namath demanded the firings of head coach Robert Saleh, general manager Joe Douglas, and quarterback Zach Wilson.
Joe Willie Namath, a long-time listener and caller, phoned into Michael Kay’s ESPN Radio show the other day and carpet-bombed the Jets’ quarterback, coaching staff, and front office.
Zack Wilson just sacked himself 🤣🤦♂️ #NFL #Jets #CBS #Patriots @NFLonCBS @nyjets @Patriots pic.twitter.com/xv82rVeOBF

The money remark was undoubtedly “disgusting,” which is how Namath described Zach Wilson in general, especially one of the sacks he sustained when he surrendered before any onrushing Patriots could touch him.
“I wouldn’t keep him,” Broadway Bowery Zach, Joe said. “I’ve seen enough.”
Willie gay didn’t even mean to take this jab at the Jets…
That’s how bad Zack Wilson is, he is getting insulted when people aren’t trying to 😂😂pic.twitter.com/Y7IIkfs5g0

Wilson has completed 52.4% of his pass attempts this season, averaging 155.7 yards per game with two touchdowns and four interceptions for a passer rating of 57. The Jets and Saleh both say that he has improved since his first two rough years, yet each of those statistical figures is a career low.
But it’s what Namath said later, even as the spittle flew, that’s more important to the Jets’ health now and in the future.
We can rule out Zack Wilson, no chance he hits that throw https://t.co/TUzwQZOHUS

“These guys aren’t picking the right players,” Namath said. “They aren’t doing a good job of coaching. It’s evident. I mean, you’ve got to look and see. If you have an eye for football at all you see things are haywire. It’s too crazy. They need to fix it and that’s getting rid of a lot of people and bringing new ones in.”
Joe Douglas is the one who has to start answering for this, and by “this,” we mean the most heinous quarterback scenario the NFL has seen in a long time.
Will Robert Saleh once again Coach like a frightened child?

This followed a year in which Wilson shown that he was not only physically incapable of performing such responsibilities, but also cripplingly immature. Everyone but Joe Douglas knew by the conclusion of last year that Wilson had been a bust as the No. 2 choice. The only reason to keep the ghost was a strong refusal to confess a mistake.
