Jets’ Coach Robert Saleh On QB Aaron Rodgers Having A Wish List: “Silly Narrative”

Aaron Rodgers, a former Packers quarterback, was signed by the New York Jets during the summer, but the organization has made other additions as we approach the 2023 season. According to rumours, Rodgers had a list of players he wanted New York to sign before signing with the Jets. and the Coach Sales is not happy with such gossips!

Four former Green Bay Packers have joined the Jets: Randall Cobb, who signed a one-year deal on Wednesday, quarterback Tim Boyle, wide receiver Allen Lazard, and lineman Billy Turner.

Jets’ Coach Robert Saleh On QB Aaron Rodgers Having A Wish List: “Silly Narrative”

Robert Saleh, the head coach of the New York Jets, wants the discussion of a wish list to stop. Saleh claimed on Friday that it is a “silly narrative” to claim that the Jets are recruiting former Rodgers teammates solely because the new quarterback is in charge in an apparent attempt to save Aaron Rodgers from criticism.

“So, I can try to say this as respectfully as I can — I’m not attacking anyone. It’s just that I do think it’s a silly narrative, with regards to a ‘wish list,'” Saleh said (via NBC Sports). “And I say that because there’s 32 teams in the NFL. And it’s common practice for when there’s changes, when you have a new coaching staff, when you have people coming in, that you surround those people with people they’re familiar with.”

“I had a wish list — Solomon Thomas, Marcell Harris, D.J. Reed, Kwon Alexander — guys who I’ve worked with who were very familiar with our messaging, very familiar with our scheme, who can come in and play,” Saleh said. “We had it on offense with Laken Tomlinson, Tevin Coleman and guys who have been in the system. Shoot, Tom Brady goes to Tampa and he gets [Rob] Gronkowski and Antonio Brown. So, it is very common for new faces to want old faces — to be able to come in and accelerate the installation of a program.”

“Everything’s being pinned on the quarterback — it’s not just him,” Saleh said.

Saleh pointed out that the Tampa Bay Buccaneers added tight end Rob Gronkowski and wide receiver Antonio Brown, much as they did with Tom Brady.

ESPN’s Dianna Russini reported in March on Rodgers’ alleged wish list. At the time, Rodgers disputed the story but said that he had spoken with Jets management about his favorite players during a meeting at his Malibu, California, home.
