Jets’ Aaron Rodgers Takes A Stand & Responds To The Critique Against Zach Wilson

New York City has a population of roughly nine million people, yet it’s unclear how many of them would support Zach Wilson or the team’s hierarchy but he has his buddy veteran Aaron Rodgers supporting him.

Jets’ Aaron Rodgers Takes A Stand & Responds To The Critique Against Zach Wilson

On Monday, Joe Namath, the only quarterback to win a Super Bowl with the team, became the latest individual to go on the offensive after the Jets indicated they will remain with Wilson, who was once the franchise’s future but is now the most popular target of irate fans.

“I wouldn’t keep him,” said Namath during an interview on The Michael Kay Show on 98.7 ESPN New York. “I’ve seen enough of Zach Wilson. All right? I’ve seen enough.”

The injured Jets quarterback wants club icon Joe Namath to rally behind Zach Wilson rather than criticize him as the former No. 2 selection struggles to replace Rodgers.

“I said to [the team] in the preseason, our toughest task is handling success and that’s whether we’ve having success or not having success. That doesn’t mean you’re winning all the time and got to handle it the right way,” Rodgers said “The Pat McAfee Show” on Tuesday. “When we’re not having success, how do we respond? How do we respond to adversity?

“And that goes to our fan base and former players as well. You’re not helping the cause. You’re not helping the cause.”

The Jets dropped back-to-back games with Wilson starting in place of the injured Rodgers, who tore his Achilles in Week 1. Wilson most recently received boos from Jets fans during and after this past Sunday’s 15-10 home defeat to the New England Patriots, despite completing 18-of-36 passes for 157 yards with no touchdowns or interceptions.

Rodgers and Wilson have a tight relationship, and the four-time NFL MVP had intended to teach the 2021 first-round draft selection throughout the season before the circumstances altered on Sept. 11.
