Jerry Jones Responds To LeBron James’ Comments About His Controversial Desegregation Photo

Jerry Jones has recently gained attention due to a picture of him taken at North Little Rock High School in 1957 when he was a youngster. He can be seen watching a demonstration against desegregation.

Many people have expressed their views on the Dallas Cowboys owner and the contested photo. LeBron James, a star player in the NBA, is one of them. Jones, however, made the effort to respond to LeBron’s remarks regarding the image.

While speaking on 105.3 The Fan, Jones said:

“First of all, you have to hear me say how much I think of LeBron. I don’t know of anybody that I respect more. I don’t know of anybody that’s taken every opportunity he’s had and maximized it. Not only (has he been) a great ambassador for sport, he has taken sports, he has taken his venues, and used those platforms – I want to be sure that you know where I’m coming from. It made buttons pop off my vest, so to speak, when he would talk about how much of a Cowboys fan he was.”

LeBron, who recently said he’s no longer a fan of the Cowboys, spoke about the photo after a recent Los Angeles Lakers game. He questioned the media as to why he wasn’t asked about the picture.

“I was thinking when I was on my way over here, I was wondering why I haven’t gotten a question from you guys about the Jerry Jones photo. I feel like as a Black man, as a Black athlete, as someone with power and a platform when we do something wrong or something that people don’t agree with, it’s on every single tabloid, every single news coverage, it’s on the bottom ticker. It’s asked about every single day.”

The four-time NBA MVP previously admitted to switching his allegiance to the Cleveland Browns from the Dallas Cowboys. This followed the team’s practice of having its players stand for the anthem.
