Sims replied, “New Year, New Rory,” in response to a post from X that emphasized McIlroy’s words.

Previously considered one of the most vocal opponents of LIV Golf, McIlroy provided an alternative perspective this week on his colleagues leaving the Saudi-sponsored league, which currently features Jon Rahm, the current Masters champion.

“I think at this point, I was maybe a little judgmental of the guys that went [to LIV Golf] at the start, and I think it was a bit of a mistake on my part because I now realize not everyone is in my position or in Tiger’s [Woods] position,” As said by McIlroy on the podcast “Stick to Football”.

Since the 2022 launch of LIV Golf, a lot has happened.
