Jeff Gladney’s tragic death

The NFL world was taken aback by a tragedy on Monday morning. Arizona Cardinals cornerback Jeff Gladney, 25, died in a car accident nearby Dallas. A former first-round pick, Gladney was drafted by the Minnesota Vikings in 2020 and lasted a single season with the team amid accusations of domestic violence, but he was considered innocent of these charges.

The life of Gladney was changing for good. He signed a two-year contract with the Cardinals to resume his career and also had a one-year son from a previous relationship. His girlfriend also died in the car crash.

Statements were released regarding Gladney’s passing from various parts, from his former teams to his agent:

Arizona Cardinals: We are devastated to learn of Jeff Gladney’s passing. Our hearts go out to his family, friends and all who are mourning this tremendous loss

Minnesota Vikings: We are saddened by the tragic death of former Viking Jeff Gladney,” the Vikings said in a statement. “Our hearts go out to his family and friends, as well as the Arizona Cardinals organization and Jeff’s current and former teammates and coaches who are mourning his life lost much too soon

NFL: The NFL family mourns the tragic loss of Jeff Gladney and we extend our deepest condolences to his family and loved ones.

TCU: Our TCU Athletics family, and especially our football program, was very devastated to learn of the passing of Jeff Gladney,” athletic director Jeremiah Donati said in a statement. “After earning his degree and continuing his playing career in the NFL, Jeff maintained his close ties to TCU. He loved everything about his alma mater.

It’s such a sad situation. Gladney was getting his life right and this was supposed to be the season where he would resume doing what he loved the most. Not only this is gone now and lots of friends and family are saddened by the situation, but there’s also the fact that his son will grow up without a father to educate and be close to him.

It’s always sad to see young people going too soon. May the Gladney family find peace and may Jeff rest in peace.
