Jarrett Stidham set to replace Derek Carr as Las Vegas Raiders starting QB vs. San Francisco 49ers

The Las Vegas Raiders have announced that Jarrett Stidham will be the starting quarterback for the team against the San Francisco 49ers in Week 17 of the 2022-23 NFL season. Stidham will be replacing Derek Carr, the man who has been the QB1 for the team for several years now.

However, Carr has had a difficult season this term, having thrown the most interceptions by any quarterback in the league. The Raiders are currently third in the AFC West with six wins and nine defeats. They have almost no hope of making it to the playoffs this season.

Stidham was signed by the Raiders in the offseason and made his debut for the team against the New Orleans Saints in Week 12. He will now be under some pressure after having taken the mantle from Carr, but the 26-year-old appears to be up for the challenge.

Jarrett Stidham’s NFL career and stats

Stidham was picked by the New England Patriots in 2019 and in two years with the franchise, he managed 270 yards on 24 passes and two touchdowns. In total, he has 342 passing yards and 32 passes with four touchdowns and two interceptions.

However, Stidham will have the opportunity to impress in the Raiders’ final two games of the season. Suppose he manages to throw a few touchdowns, he could get the nod from Mike McDaniels as the team’s starting quarterback for next season.

As things stand, the Raiders are reportedly willing to offload Carr once the season ends. If that is the case, it will draw curtains on an eight-year relationship between the player and franchise.
