Jalen Green Joins Allen Iverson in an Elite Modern NBA List After Scoring 30+ Points in 5 Consectuive Games

Despite a strong performance against the Brooklyn Nets on Tuesday night at the Barclays Center, the Houston Rockets were defeated 118-105. Jalen Green scored 30 points for the sixth time in as many games, scoring a bucket in the final seconds to put him over the top. His speed is obvious night in and night out, as he finished 12-23 from the field.

Houston kept the game close in the first quarter, but the Nets took control in the second quarter with a 17-4 run. In the fourth quarter, the Rockets rallied back to within seven points, but Kyrie Irving’s heroic effort put them at bay.

Kyrie ended with 42 points, including 17 in the fourth quarter on a series of circus shots to keep the Nets in front. However, despite the loss, Green made it to the history books by equaling Allen Iverson.

Jalen Green becomes the only rookie alongside Allen Iverson to score 30+ points in 5 straight games

Jalen Green, the No. 2 overall pick in the 2021 first round by the Rockets, has now joined Allen Iverson (1997) as the only NBA rookie in more than 40 years to score 30-plus points in five consecutive games.

Green continued his record streak with 30 points on 12-of-23 (52.2 percent) shooting at Brooklyn on Tuesday, including 4-of-10 on 3-pointers (40.0 percent). In his 41 minutes on the court, the 20-year-old also snagged 6 rebounds.

Green will have the opportunity to tie and maybe break Iverson’s six-game run when Houston closes its 2021-22 season on Friday in Toronto and Sunday at home against Atlanta. The Rockets didn’t do anything to undermine their draught prospects, and they only have two games remaining in the season, the next of which is on Friday against the Toronto Raptors.

Thanks to Kyrie Irving’s 42-point explosion, the Rockets fell to the Nets 118-105 (8-of-16 on 3-pointers, 50.0 percent). But it was a valuable learning lesson for Green and backcourt companion Kevin Porter Jr. (36 points) at Barclays Center against Brooklyn’s potential Hall of Famers, Irving, and Kevin Durant.
