Jalen Brunson Reveals Why He Rejected Chris Paul’s Help At The Game

Guard Jalen Brunson of the New York Knicks cleared the air by telling the truth. Many exaggerated the on-court altercation that occurred between Chris Paul and Brunson last night at MSG.

Jalen Brunson Reveals Why He Rejected Chris Paul’s Help At The Game

As usual, fans devised their own hypotheses and comparisons. Luckily, the Knicks guard stepped in before the basketball world could set up CP3 and him in a new feud.

The Warriors were on fire and dominated the home team from the start, making life difficult for the Big Apple team. In addition, Brunson struggled to maneuver amid the Dubs’ traffic.

He was consistently turned away from the edge. And at the conclusion of the third quarter, Paul made the injury more worse.

“First, I’ve got the utmost respect for Chris. I’ve known him since high school, and he has a great relationship with my dad,” Brunson said, referring to Knicks assistant coach Rick Brunson.

“It’s all love before the game. I said ‘Hi’ to him before the game. I said ‘Hi’ after the game. But during the game, I mean, if I get knocked down, I prefer my teammates to help me up, no matter what the situation is.

“So when he came to pick me up, I was just like, ‘Nah, I can’t right now.’ And that’s all I said.”

He claimed that while he spoke with Paul both before and after the game, things are different when he’s competing. For those forty-eight minutes, friendships between rival players don’t exist. All he wanted was a hand from one of his colleagues.

Brunson is not the kind to start a fight. He stays away from it. He didn’t mean any harm in turning down Paul’s help because he doesn’t aim to start anything on the court.

He undoubtedly didn’t enjoy getting stomped, but that’s just part of the physical nature of basketball. If Brunson harbored resentment toward each player who intentionally or unintentionally knocked him down, the list would never end.
