Additionally, concerns were raised regarding the potential harm cigarettes could pose to Paul’s aspirations in the sport.

In his pursuit of a comeback following his first professional boxing defeat against Tommy Fury, Jake Paul sets his sights on a highly anticipated showdown with UFC icon Nate Diaz on August 5th. Diaz, who departed from the UFC in September last year after submitting Tony Ferguson in his last fight for the organization, will be making his boxing debut in this much-anticipated clash.

Initially planned for eight rounds, Diaz put forth a proposal for a rule modification that would extend the match to 12 rounds. Eventually, they reached a compromise, agreeing to a 10-round contest. In a lighthearted manner, Paul has jestingly remarked that he is preparing for the longest scheduled bout of his career by engaging in smoking while simultaneously hitting the speed bag.

Diaz has forecasted that Paul’s sole opportunity to secure a victory against him lies within the early rounds. He boldly expressed, “If not, then it’s like you’re in big trouble and I’m already willing to get knocked out. Are you willing to get tired and get your f****ng ass whipped and knocked the f*** out? You’re over here acting like ‘Oh, 15 rounds’ I’m like, you’re f****ng trying to blend it in so everybody forgets about it so it’s a joke and it goes away. Right now, let’s do 12 rounds. It doesn’t matter to me.”

Certainly, it is evident that Jake’s adversary, Nate Diaz, is quite familiar with smoking and openly expresses his fondness for cannabis. Considering this, Jake’s comment about smoking while training could potentially be interpreted as a subtle jab at Diaz’s affinity for marijuana. The bout is set to occur in Texas, a jurisdiction known for its stringent drug regulations, which encompass the prohibition of cannabis. Diaz made a jesting remark about relocating the fight to a state where cannabis is legal, following the denial of his marijuana exemption application. It’s worth noting that testing positive for THC could result in various consequences for Diaz, including potential suspension and fines.
