Jaguars’ QB Trevor Lawrence Shares Epic Waffle House Order After Playoff Win

The Waffle House chain is a staple of the South, and Jaguars quarterback Trevor Lawrence is a true son of the region.

Lawrence made headlines on Saturday when he dined at a North Florida Waffle House with his wife and friends following the Jaguars’ comeback victory over the Chargers in an AFC wild-card game after falling behind by 27 points.

“That night, I got the Texas bacon cheesesteak with hash browns and cheese, and a pecan waffle,” Lawrence said. “Sometimes I’ll get the All-Star (Special). It depends on how I’m feeling.”

On Tuesday, Lawrence clarified that both backup quarterback E.J. Perry and guard Brandon Scherff had never visited a Waffle House. Marissa, Lawrence’s wife, made an unusual decision and made a reservation.

Well, if you give us a heads-up, we can get folks out of one location, they said. The restaurant informed Marissa that they had a table reserved.

Their group of about 20 people showed up to celebrate the triumph.

“It depends,” Lawrence said of his favorite menu item. “That night, I got the Texas bacon cheesesteak with hash browns with cheese and a pecan waffle. Sometimes I get the All-Star [breakfast].”

A sharp reporter followed up, asking if he used the proper “verbiage” for the hash brown toppings.

“What is it? Smothered is cheese, is that correct? I just say cheese. But I should probably say [it right],” Lawrence laughed.

In 25 states, there are roughly 2,100 Waffle House establishments. The majority are located south of the Mason-Dixon line, however few northern states, such Indiana, Pennsylvania, and Ohio, have outposts. Since the eateries are open all the time, the “Waffle House Index” states that closures are an indication that a weather situation was extremely severe.

The Jaguars are 8.5-point underdogs on the road against the top-seeded Chiefs in the NFL divisional round on Saturday afternoon.
