Jaguars GM: Trevor Lawrence & Doug Pederson ‘A Match Made In Heaven’
Trent Baalke, general manager of the Jacksonville Jaguars, believes that the relationship between second-year quarterback Trevor Lawrence and first-year head coach Doug Pederson has only just begun.

“That’s a marriage made in heaven there because they related to each other that way (being coolheaded),” Baalke told reporters about the Lawrence-Pederson partnership, per Myles Simmons of Pro Football Talk. “They’re both fearless, Trevor doesn’t fear anything. They’re very authentic, so when you have leaders at the quarterback position and at the head coach position that are like that, everybody else just kind of falls in line.”

In less than a full season, the Jaguars rightly abandoned the Urban Meyer experiment and hired Pederson in the offseason. The team was “pressing the reset button,” as Pederson pledged during the spring, with Lawrence, and the 23-year-old later remarked that he and the new coaching staff were “on the same page.”
The Jaguars under Pederson started 3-7 before winning five straight games to win the AFC South. The Jacksonville Jaguars then overcame a 27-0 deficit to shock the Los Angeles Chargers in the playoff wild-card round before suffering a 27-20 loss to the Kansas City Chiefs the following weekend.

Lawrence is “definitely trending,” according to Baalke, toward being a premier NFL quarterback.
The Jaguars were 2-1 with victory over the Colts and Chargers at one point in the 2022 season.
After that, they lost their next five games in a row, dropping to 2-6. However, following a Week 10 loss to the Chiefs, the team won seven of its next eight games to take the AFC South title and a playoff match against Los Angeles.
Jaguars coach Doug Pederson on Trevor Lawrence: "I’ve said this before that the success of your football team lies with your quarterback and you’ve got to get that piece and that player right and I feel that Jacksonville got that person right. And he’s just going to get better."

The Jaguars’ future appears as promising as it has in a long time going into the 2023 offseason, especially with quarterback Trevor Lawrence.
The 2021 No. 1 overall pick finished the regular season having completed 66.3 percent of his passes for 4,113 yards with 25 touchdowns and eight interceptions — good for a 95.2 passer rating.
