Ja Morant Records A Video Of Him Holding A Toy Gun After Second Live Gun Incident

Ja Morant could be ruining his chances of playing in the NBA because he keeps flaunting a gun on Instagram Live.

However, as we are now learning, the gun may not even be authentic.

In a recently discovered video from May 14, Morant displays what seems to be a lighter used as a fake firearm. He can be seen lighting candles with the “gun” to try to convince his loved ones and friends that he wasn’t actually carrying a gun during his tragic Instagram Live.

A day after the May 13 incident, which was his second time using an alleged handgun and would cost him 25 games next season, the Grizzlies superstar was captured on camera with a fake pistol, according to a video obtained by TMZ.

Morant makes the following statement at the conclusion of the video: “You hold it, and everything comes out.”

On May 13, a live camera captured Morant, 23, and pal Davonte Pack in the passenger seat of the automobile flashing what seemed to be a pistol.

On June 7, Morant’s camp first suggested that it was a toy gun.

Morant expressed regret to his teammates, the NBA, his sponsors, and his supporters while promising to “be better.”

“I’m spending the offseason and my suspension continuing to work on my own mental health and decision making… I hope you’ll give me the chance to prove to you over time I’m a better man than what I’ve been showing you,” Morant’s statement read.

This season, Morant is anticipated to earn roughly $33.5 million. He now stands to lose almost $7.5 million, or slightly over $300,000 each game.

“I’ve had time to reflect and I realize how much hurt I’ve caused,” Morant said Friday in a statement. “I want to apologize to the NBA, the Grizzlies, my teammates and the city of Memphis. To Adam Silver, [Grizzlies GM] Zach Kleiman and [Grizzlies owner] Robert Pera — who gave me the opportunity to be a professional athlete and have supported me — I’m sorry for the harm that I’ve done.

“To the kids who look up to me, I’m sorry for failing you as a role model. I promise I’m going to be better. To all of my sponsors, I’m going to be  a better representation of our brands. And to all of my fans, I’m going to make it up to you, I promise.”

It should be emphasized that whether Morant appeared in the video has not been confirmed. But the tattoos on the arm in the video match those on the Memphis Grizzlies guard.
