J.J. McCarthy Is Declared For 2024 NFL Draft And Moves Forward With His ‘Soulmate’ Katya

J.J. McCarthy is “so excited to continue” playing football with his longtime partner Katya Kuropas as he heads out of Michigan for the professional ranks.

Shortly after winning a national championship with the Wolverines a week prior, the 20-year-old quarterback talked about his “soulmate” and explained why he was leaving Ann Arbor after three years when he announced his candidacy for the 2024 NFL Draft on Sunday.

“To my love, Katya… you are my soulmate, best friend, and my rock. I am so blessed to be your partner now and forever. I am so excited to continue our journey together,” McCarthy mentioned in social media.

In the CFP championship game last Monday, Michigan defeated Washington 34–13, and McCarthy—who this season has thrown for 2,991 yards, 22 touchdowns, and four interceptions—helped send the team to its first championship since 1997.

It was a kiss from Kuropas that cemented the triumph at NRG Stadium in Houston.

October commemorated the five years that the pair had been dating.

With a perfect 15-0 record at the end of the season, Michigan—whose head coach Jim Harbaugh was suspended for three games due to a dispute with sign-stealing in the fall—finished ahead of schedule.

“I have talked to many in and out of football, including my family, Coach Harbaugh, and many who’s opinions I greatly admire and respect,” J.J. McCarthy shared.

“This decision was not easy and how could it be — I love my teammates. I love my coaches and I love it here in Ann Arbor.”

As per ESPN expert Mel Kiper Jr., J.J. McCarthy is ranked as the fifth available quarterback in this year’s draft.

To be exact, Harbaugh will interview next week with the Chargers for their head coaching position. Harbaugh managed the 49ers from 2011 to 2014 before coming to Michigan in 2015.
