Its Time When Mets’ Need To Let Mark Vientos Play Over Veteran Daniel Vogelbach

The Mets would like Daniel Vogelbach to produce better stats, but he isn’t.

However, those forcefully struck balls weren’t leading to hits, and lately, Vogelbach has been caught with the bat on his shoulder.

His OPS had fallen to.705 as a result of a 2-for-17 skid when he entered the game. His.333 slugging percentage was pitiful.

For a third straight game, manager Buck Showalter kept Vogelbach at the DH position. Prior to the game, Vogelbach had two home runs in 99 at-bats.

After being acquired from the Pittsburgh Pirates last year, Daniel Vogelbach was reasonably productive. This season’s narrative has been unique. Vogelbach’s sole offensive strength has been drawing walks; he has hit for absolutely little power.

The majority of Mets supporters are ready for a change because it is frustrating to watch.

The Mets have been begged by fans to play the young players.

But for the opening game of a three-game series against the Colorado Rockies in Denver on Friday, Daniel Vogelbach was back in the lineup as designated hitter, and Mark Vientos was sitting on the bench.

According to Showalter, Mark Vientos will probably play the following three games, starting on Saturday.

Prior to pinch-hitting for Brett Baty in the ninth inning on Friday, the youngster started the game on the bench for the third straight game with Vogelbach serving as the designated hitter.

Vientos will either DH or play a corner infield position, Showalter did not specify.

It’s time to give Vientos a long shot and see what the Mets can make of him. He may be a game-changing bat for a squad whose offense has been hit-or-miss.

“It’s a juggle,” said manager Buck Showalter. “We’re trying to do what’s best for our team and at the same time, be fair to everybody. But I plan to play Mark the next, probably, three days. We’ll see how it goes tonight. He’s a good weapon off the bench.”
