‘It was a holding’: Eagles’ James Bradberry Admits To Committing Late-Debated Penalty

James Bradberry and the Philadelphia Eagles would have experienced disappointment after falling to the Kansas City Chiefs in a nail-biting game in Super Bowl LVII. Due to a field goal in the waning seconds, they fell short 38-35.

‘It was a holding’: Eagles’ James Bradberry Admits To Committing Late-Debated Penalty

The officials made what appeared to be an easy decision during the two-minute warning, which led to the score. Bradberry was given a hold call, which gave the Kansas City Chiefs additional downs. They may kick the goal and run out the remaining time by arriving in time. There were barely four seconds left on the clock when the Eagles recovered the ball for their final offensive play.

Here is a clip of the call. Although there appeared to have been touched by Bradberry, it did not appear to be so heinous that it called for punishment. Many people claimed that it should be overlooked in light of the ramifications of that particular circumstance.

James Bradberry, though, has now publicly acknowledged that he did indeed grab the Chiefs receiver. Although there may have been a tiny pull, Bradberry admitted that the decision was the right one. Although he knew it was the proper decision, he was hoping they would ignore it. He said:

“It was a holding. I tugged his jersey. I was hoping they would let it slide.”

JuJu Smith-Schuster was certain that it was the right decision following the game by Bradberry. Although it appeared that Patrick Mahomes had already overthrown the ball, a hold may have prevented the receiver from escaping in the first place.

Many people would have been sympathetic to Nick Sirianni if he had publicly lamented the lack of backing from the authorities.

But he took the high road, claiming that the call by itself did not alter the outcome of the match. He said “the Chiefs were overall better than the Eagles and congratulated them on their Super Bowl triumph.”

Former NFL punter and podcast host Pat McAfee said the refs should have eaten the whistle.

“That ref making that holding call at that time at that stage at that game? Super Bowl? Huh? Huh?!…” he said. “Hey refs – can’t f—ing call that there. Okay? It’s not about you. Now was there a hold? I guess. If you stop and go frame by frame, Bradberry had his hands on him, but nonetheless, at that stage? Come on! we were robbed of a potential overtime game in the Super Bowl!”

The Chiefs won their third Super Bowl in franchise history, and their second since the 2019 season, with a final score of 38-35.
