Is therapy needed to stop sexting? Amir Khan, a former boxing star is willing to have therapy sessions for this habit.

Former world champion boxer Amir Khan, who is married, claims he is ready to go to counseling to stop sexting other women.

And after his wife Faryal questioned him, “If you have a diamond at home, why do you want to mess around with rocks and stones?” he later apologized to her.

After reading The Sun on Sunday’s story from two weeks ago about how he begged a model for naughty images and requested her to see him, Faryal tore the clothes off of him.

Amir, 36, has stated he would be open to seeing a professional after confessing he “made mistakes” and “hurt” his wife. His marriage has been plagued by unfaithful storms.

When asked if he’d go to therapy with Faryal, he responded, “That question hasn’t been brought up before.

“But maybe I do need help to stop me from messaging other women.

“I am willing to go to therapy to stop me sending texts to women who aren’t my wife.

“I think nowadays with mental health issues, any help goes a long way. It’s definitely something I would do. Things like that do help, so maybe it’s something to think about.”

When Faryal saw our report about Amir pleading with 25-year-old bridal model Sumaira for risqué photos and attempting to see her, she confronted him at their Dubai home earlier this month.

Prior to his and Faryal’s 10th wedding anniversary, he contacted her online in May and initially complimented her on her tattoos.

But his communications quickly became lewd. In one, Sumaira was reprimanded by Amir for her appearance in a g-string and suggested she had a boob job.

Sumaira texted him a photo of herself wearing clothing that revealed her rose-tattooed stomach, and Amir responded, “Can’t stop looking.”

In another, he pledged to remove any flirtatious photos.

He asked: “Think I wanna get caught out?”

Faryal, who is married to Amir and has three children, was enraged and lashed out at her partner.

She was disgusted, according to Amir, who was on I’m A Celebrity in 2017 and the all-star edition in May in South Africa. “She was disgusted. It’s not a nice thing to do.

“She was very angry because I shouldn’t be speaking to people like that.

“It’s not nice what I’ve done. One day my kids will grow up and read this stuff, and it will upset them.

“I don’t think I was cheating, it was just a few texts. But I regret doing it.

“I can only apologise to Faryal. People have been messaging her about it, saying, ‘Did you see this article?’ — rubbing it in her face. It’s sad.”

The previous week, Amir flew the model Faryal to Mykonos for a romantic getaway without kids.

He said this when on the Greek island:

“The stupidest thing I did was to comment on this woman’s picture saying ‘nice’.

“I shouldn’t have done it. I have respect for my wife.

“I think I do these things out of boredom — I don’t think it’s that I can’t help myself.

“You get bored and start making mistakes.

“If I’m not careful, I will get myself into trouble — especially with the wife. She will end up saying, ‘I’ve had enough’.”

34 of Amir’s 40 career fights were victories, and he said, “I’m used to focusing on boxing all the time but now that’s finished, maybe I need to start getting into something again.

“I want to get back into training and I have been asked to do a few exhibitions. There’s also a few TV shows I want to do.”

Following our tale, Sumaira allegedly asked Amir for £20,000 by claiming to be going through a difficult time.

Then, Sumaira charged him with lying in a TikTok video and threatened to spill more of their correspondence.

Faryal attacked Sumaira online, writing: “Even when I was single I never gave a guy my number. Let alone a married one. Simple.”

Speaking to The Sun on Sunday, Sumaira said Amir informed her over the phone that he and Faryal “were not properly together” and “that it was a bit of a business arrangement”.

Amir, a native of Bolton who now divides his time between the UK and Dubai, retaliated by saying:

“Women message you because they know they can get something from you.

“My missus is my queen and I don’t want to hurt her. Our marriage is great at the moment.”

Amir, a professional boxer who competed in four weight divisions, ended his career in May of last year, three months after falling to Sheffield boxer Kell Brook, 37, in a match at Manchester’s AO Arena.

He received a two-year sports suspension in April of this year, with a one-year grace period, after the performance-enhancing drug ostarine was discovered in his system the night of the bout.

Amir’s claim that the breach was not deliberate was approved by a tribunal.

The third season of the BBC program Meet the Khans: Big in Bolton, which starred Amir and Faryal, was completed earlier this year.

Mutual friends brought the couple together at a restaurant in New York in 2011, and they married two years later in a lavish £1 million celebration at the city’s Waldorf Astoria Hotel.

Former Manchester United players Wayne Rooney and Rio Ferdinand were among the 4,000 attendees at another event in the UK.
