Is Sydney Sweeney A Liar And Lied About The Basketballer Who Slide Into Her DM?
On Jimmy Fallon’s Tonight Show earlier this week, Sydney Sweeney may have told a brazen untruth. The official start of #GonzagaGate has begun!
Sweeney visited Rockefeller Center earlier this week to appear on the NBC show. Sweeney is now promoting her new movie, “Anyone But You,” opposite Glenn Powell. She gave Fallon a basketball that was autographed by every member of the Gonzaga collegiate basketball team while she was there.

Spokane is the hometown of the 26-year-old actress. Throughout the past few seasons, the 49-year-old host has been outspoken in his support of the Bulldogs.
Fallon questioned Sweeney on the ball and her acquisition of it. She stated that it happened as a result of several team members DMing her. There was no further clarification given.

It looks like only two Bulldogs—junior forward Ben Gregg and fifth-year forward Anton Watson—follow Sydney Sweeney on Instagram. More research confirms this. This means that if those two had made their shot, that would make the most sense.
But Sweeney might not have told the whole tale!
Was Sydney Sweeney dishonest and lied about the whole thing?

Fans of the program flooded them with notes shortly after Brobible published their expose on Gonzaga basketball’s desire. They say the whole story was made up by Sweeney!
Rick Clark is a university alumnus who is presently well-known in the Spokane region. In addition to being a motivational speaker, he is the creator and executive director of Giving Back Packs Spokane.
John Coy Jr., his friend, is a certified builder with his own construction business. Sweeney is currently remodeling his mother’s home with assistance from The John Coy Company.

Jimmy Fallon’s gift seems to have originated in this way. Sweeney’s story is refuted by Coy and Clark’s report, which does include Gregg.
What Clark said on Facebook is as follows:
So, funny story:
Last week my buddy Johnny Coy called me and said “we need to get a basketball signed by the entire GU team!”
I was like “well good luck with that!” 😂
He went on to tell me about a house that he’s helping remodel, that is owned by Sydney Sweeney‘s mother. Sydney Sweeney is a big-time actress from Spokane. Her mom, Lisa is a Zags alum and wanted to present Jimmy Fallon with the ball when they went to be on his show this week.
I called Ben Gregg and he said he was a huge fan of Sydney’s and that he would make it happen! Johnny and I spent the ENTIRE day last week getting a ball, getting it to Ben, waiting, praying, and then picked up the ball at 10pm the night before Sydney and her mom flew out!

Clark sent pictures along with his account of the signed ball. They show him and John Bryant, the owner of a nearby brewery in Spokane, “with the ball before they let it go.”
In response to Clark’s tweet, the official Gonzaga University page said, “You rock, Rick! Love when GonZAGa gets national attention!”

It appears that Sweeney sent Fallon the ball through Clark, who got in touch with Coy, who is remodeling Sweeney’s mother’s home. Gregg only assisted with facilitation.
There is a very real chance that these two things are not incompatible. Due to her mom’s contractor’s involvement in the scheme, Sweeney might have received the gift, and it’s possible that several players slipped into her direct messages.

Having said that, it doesn’t seem like she is telling the truth about how the ball ended up in her possession, as she said on the Tonight Show. #GonzagaGate is alive and well!
