A defensive end for the New York Jets of the National Football League, Carl Lawson plays football. At Auburn, he played collegiate football. In Milton, Georgia, Lawson attended Milton High School. Lawson was rated as one of the top recruits in his class and received a unanimous five-star rating. He made a commitment to play college football at Auburn University.

The Cincinnati Bengals selected Lawson in the fourth round of the 2017 NFL Draft, 116th overall. He made one start in all 16 games while participating, compiling 16 tackles and 8.5 sacks. His 8.5 sacks, which put him first among rookies and second on the club behind Geno Atkins’ 9.0, earned him a berth on the PFWA All-Rookie Team. Lawson inked a contract with the New York Jets on March 18, 2021.
