American professional basketball player Terrence Ross, better known as The Human Torch, plays for the NBA’s Orlando Magic. Before the Toronto Raptors selected him eighth overall in the 2012 NBA Draft, he played college basketball for the Washington Huskies, where he was named to the Pac-12 first team. He was named the 2013 Slam Dunk Contest’s rookie champion. He averaged less than 10 points a game at the time, but in January 2014, he became the first player in NBA history to score 50 or more points in a single game. The Magic acquired him in a trade in February 2017.

Ross represented the Huskies as a rookie and was named to the Pac-10 All-Freshman Team with an honorable mention. In the 2011 Pac-10 tournament, he was also chosen to the Pac-10 All-Tournament team. Ross was named to the first team All-Pac-12 during his sophomore campaign. In the 2012 National Invitation Tournament, he assisted Washington in making it to the semifinals.

The Toronto Raptors selected Ross as the eighth overall choice in the 2012 NBA Draft on June 28, 2012. He signed his rookie scale contract with the Raptors on July 10, 2012. Ross and a first-round draft selection were given to the Orlando Magic on February 14, 2017, in exchange for Serge Ibaka.
