Is Dak Prescott A Good Enough QB In Order To Take Cowboys To The Super Bowl?

Dak Prescott’s finger was stomped on during the Dallas Cowboys’ blowout defeat to the San Francisco 49ers on Sunday night.

Is Dak Prescott A Good Enough QB In Order to Take the Cowboys To The Super Bowl?

His pride was the one who suffered the most.

The Cowboys‘ Week 3 defeat to the Arizona Cardinals was shocking. The Cowboys were completely destroyed by the 49ers in Week 5.

Prescott, who had only thrown one interception before to the game, tossed three. The offense only gained 197 yards and didn’t get a first down until the sixth possession. The defense was also unimpressed, surrendering 421 yards of offense and 6.3 yards per play to a Niners team whose starters were laughing from the bench in the fourth quarter.

Prescott is aware of and comprehends the situation. One of his strongest qualities is that he can deal with turmoil, incredible highs and severe lows better than most. It’s one of the reasons he has the unflinching backing, if not outright adulation, of club owner Jerry Jones.

“I completely believe we have the quarterback that can take us where we want to go,” Jones said on his weekly appearance on 105.3 The Fan. “Make no mistake about it. We have a quarterback that can get us there …

“Dak Prescott is a quarterback that can get us to the Super Bowl,” Jones said. “And that’s the way that’s going to be.”

“Didn’t see it coming,” Prescott said after Dallas’ 42-10 blowout defeat on Sunday night. “Put everything into this and got punched in the mouth. Called a couple weeks ago humbling against Arizona. But this may be the most humbling game I’ve ever been a part of.”

Even if Dak recovers and returns to his greatest form, it won’t be enough to let anybody forget what occurred on Sunday, let alone in two playoff losses to the Niners.

It will not silence or even lessen his and his play’s criticism.

In the last three seasons, Dallas has met San Francisco three times. In the wild-card round of the 2021 season, the team was defeated at home by a score of 23-17. In the divisional round of the 2022 season, the team was defeated 19-12 at San Francisco. And then there was Sunday’s 42-10 thrashing in Santa Clara.

Prescott completed 60 of 104 (57.7 percent) throws for an average of 201 yards a game in those three outings. He has three touchdowns to six interceptions. He has nine sacks. His QBR average is 61.5. His yardage per attempt is only 5.8 yards.

The numbers are self-evident!
