Iowa Star Caitlin Clark’s NIL Deals Are Making Headlines For Obvious Reasons!

Few sportsmen have achieved the level of marketability that Caitlin Clark has while playing for the Iowa Hawkeyes. Although Clark’s NIL arrangements are kept private, like those of other athletes, On3.com estimates the Iowa star’s net worth to be $3.1 million.

Iowa Star Caitlin Clark’s NIL Deals Are Making Headlines For Obvious Reasons!

Major brands including Nike, State Farm, Gatorade, Panini America, Xfinity, and Gainbridge are among the companies with which Clark has partnered on NIL arrangements. According to these estimates, Clark has the highest NIL value of any female collegiate basketball player, followed by Angel Reese, who is valued at $1.8 million.

Clark ranks fourth in the On3 forecasts, slightly behind Livvy Dunne, Bronny James, and Shedeur Sanders. According to Rachel Bachman of The Wall Street Journal, Clark is represented by Excel Sports Management, a business that represents a roster of elite professional athletes.

The money Clark will make when she eventually joins the WNBA has received a lot of attention. The league is still way behind in terms of remuneration; as the number one overall choice, Clark will still earn a pitiful $77,000. That is, however, insignificant in comparison to the transactions she has previously closed.

She now has many Name Image Likeness (NIL) agreements with some of the most well-known companies worldwide. It’s enough to make Clark the fourth-highest NIL earner in the On3 database and the highest-paid women’s basketball player by a significant margin (Angel Reese is in second place at $1.8M).

The only three athletes currently making more than Clark:

  • Bronny James, USC guard and son of LeBron James ($4.9M)
  • Shedeur Sanders, Colorado QB and son of Deion Sanders ($4.7)
  • Livvy Dunne, LSU gymnast and TikTok star ($3.6M)

In collegiate athletics, the advent of the NIL period has made it possible for athletes to maximize their income. However, it has also made it more difficult for student-athletes to earn a living.

While attending college, athletes are allowed to receive compensation from sponsorships and endorsements. It’s likely that you saw her State Farm advertisement during March Madness, which is just one of the several instances of the celebrity using her fame for personal gain.

The more intricate aspect involves athletes receiving compensation from university-affiliated collectives. Although Iowa does not allow Clark to receive a check, schools have gotten past this restriction by collaborating with boosters who manage the collectives.

Clark earns an estimated NIL of $3.1 million, which places her above all other female basketball players. On Monday night in the Elite Eight round, Iowa takes on the LSU Tigers, headed by Angel Reese.

How does Caitlin Clark make money?

According to On3, Caitlin now has 12 NIL agreements with well-known companies, such as Nike, Gatorade, State Farm, Buick, and more. She earns thousands of dollars a month from each of these collaborations, and two of them were even inked in the last few weeks (since she broke the NCAA Division 1 scoring record), according to the site.

Following TMZ’s claim on March 27, rapper Ice Cube verified that his three-on-three basketball club, the Big3 club, had made Caitlin an offer.

“We intended the offer to remain private while Caitlin plays for the championship,” he wrote on X (formerly Twitter). “But I won’t deny what’s now already out there: BIG3 made a historic offer to Caitlin Clark. Why wouldn’t we? Caitlin is a generational athlete who can achieve tremendous success in the BIG3.”

According to TMZ, the offer is reportedly for $5 million, which would increase her net worth even further. The rapper said that she may still play in the WNBA as an option to going overseas in the off-season.
