Internet abuzz over Caitlin Clark and Zach Edey’s height contrast in viral photo

Although two of the biggest names in college basketball have played their final NCAA games, fans were given one more chance to capture a moment in time with a final photo opportunity. At this weekend’s Wooden Awards in Los Angeles, Iowa Hawkeyes guard Caitlin Clark and Purdue Boilermakers center Zach Edey shared a photo together. Fans were immediately astounded by the startling height difference between the greatest scorer in college basketball history and the most dominant big man in the league.

How tall is Zach Edey exactly?

Many people know that Clark is eight inches taller than the typical American woman at six feet. However, Edey makes Clark appear considerably smaller in comparison; in a widely shared picture, the Purdue star clearly looms over her.

Edey is described as being 7’4″ tall and 300 pounds in weight. These physical attributes allowed him to dominate the NCAA this season and lead Purdue to the verge of a national championship.

The Connecticut Huskies ultimately proved too strong for the Boilermakers, but Edey—who averaged 25 points and 12 rebounds per game—boosted his draft stock during Purdue’s march to the championship game, and some now think he’s worthy of a first-round pick in the 2024 NBA Draft.

Still, Clark’s stock could not be higher. As her fame grows, she is anticipated to play her first professional game in mid-May. She will be the #1 overall pick in this Wednesday night’s WNBA Draft. Similar to Edey, Clark was not able to end her collegiate career with a championship, but she does have Wooden and Naismith awards in her trophy cabinet.

When the WNBA season starts on May 14th, her presence is expected to generate record viewership; also, the Indiana Fever, the team that will choose her, will have a league-high 36 games broadcast on national television in 2024.
