Instead Of Trying To Make Things Better, Patrick Beverley Wanted To Add Fuel To Warriors & Timberwolves Brawl

Tensions quickly escalated in San Francisco on Tuesday night when the Warriors were playing the Timberwolves. Before a single basket was made in the first two minutes of the game, a little altercation turned into a full-on team brawl and ultimately Draymond Green got ejected! However, Patrick Beverley, a former Timberwolf, expressed his disappointment with the remaining members of his previous squad.

The Warriors brought the ball up the court to begin play. Klay Thompson was being marked by Jaden McDaniels when he worked down the floor. Thompson made a slight attempt to push off, but McDaniels caught his jersey and his arms began to swing.

The T-Wolves hub Rudy Gobert attempted to draw back Thompson, but Green grabbed him instead. The seven-footer was then forcefully hauled away for a full seven seconds while Green locked him in a headlock.

In addition to Green receiving a flagrant 2 fouls and two double technicals from Thompson and McDaniels, all players were automatically ejected. There was still no score.

As soon as the fight started, Draymond Green ran up to Rudy Gobert and placed him in a headlock.

Green may yet be subject to more penalties; in the next several days, a suspension may be imposed. The concept that he was only attempting to maintain calm was not well received by subsequent replays.

Patrick Beverley talked extensively about the Timberwolves’ response to Draymond Green’s play against Gobert in a recent podcast interview. Recall that he was once a Timberwolf, and he expressed his want to have seen more of Anthony Edwards or Karl Anthony-Towns during that altercation. The Wolves may have benefited from not seeing them on the frame, but Pat Bev has a tendency to inflame situations.

He was in need of other Timberwolves players to stand up and protect Gobert from the onslaught of Draymond Green. To put it briefly, he wanted this to become a full-fledged fight. Although he didn’t phrase it exactly like that, it’s clear from his remarks where he is coming from.

What Pat Bev said on his podcast is as follows: “KAT, bogus as hell. Straight up, and Ant was back there too. Like, for real. You see someone choking your team out, it would’ve been a choking line, every [bleeper] get choked. And Draymond knew, too. I know Draymond. Draymond knew. He, ‘OK, this is the moment right here, yeah.’ Don’t nobody like Rudy anyway. That was the perfect moment to do it. Like, ‘[bleep] it, let me choke Rudy [bleep].’

And you know Draymond, he going for the biggest [bleeper]. That was very strategic. I see KAT make a mean mug face, but then you ain’t doing s***. Choke Draymond is back. So now, if I’m Draymond, I’m, ‘Yeah, I choked their centre and their homies didn’t do anything. That’s how I’m looking at it. Straight up.”
