After his dramatic KO win, Michael Chandler spoke to Joe Rogan and gave an explosive post-fight octagon interview. He called out fighters he recently lost to like Justin Gaethje and Charles Oliveira, but it was his call-out of Conor McGregor that stood out.
“There is not one MMA fan on the planet that doesn’t want to see me rematch you Charles, or rematch you Justin Gaethje. A rematch of the fight of the year 2021, five rounds for the UFC lightweight title.”
“If Hunter Campbell and Dana White have a momentary lapse in judgement and give this title fight to someone else, I have one dude on my mind. Conor McGregor, you gotta come back and fight somebody. I am the most entertaining lightweight on the planet. But I want to up the takes Conor, I want you at your greatest, I want you at your baddest and I want you at your best. You and me at 170. Holler at your boy.”

Never one to shy away from the spotlight, Conor McGregor took to Twitter after Michael Chandler’s win and revealed that he was open to fighting the former three-time Bellator lightweight champion. Moreover, it seems like both men have agreed that the welterweight division would be a good battleground for their match-up.

“I’d have a nice knock off this guy, no doubt about it. A firework spectacle. I like the 170 shout also. Tipped him over. I’m definitely game to fight this guy at some stage in my career. I see it happening after tonight. Congrats on a solid win, Michael and another barnstormer.”
On paper, this fight makes sense as both men are angling for a shot at UFC gold. Not to mention, this is sure to be a stand-up striking battle for the ages and it’s a certainty that someone is hitting the canvas and suffering a concussion.
