‘I’m Closer to Middleweight Than I Am to Featherweight’- Dan Hooker Makes an Interesting Admission
Dan Hooker is stuck between a rock and a hard place given the way he has been performing in recent years. Hooker is 1-4 in his last five fights and he has a long way to go before being able to truly bounce back into title contention.
‘The Hangman’ recently made his return down to the featherweight division, where he was blown out of the water by Arnold Allen. UFC London had a lot of eyes on it, and Hooker vs Allen was an action-packed brawl that ended in a TKO victory for the hometown star.

The defeat was a setback for Hooker’s chances of becoming a contender in the featherweight division and he revealed in a recent sitdown with Submission Radio that he wasn’t planning on returning to the 145-pound division.

Where does Dan Hooker go from here?
Hooker revealed that in the weeks following UFC London, he has gained far too much weight to consider a move back to the featherweight division. In fact, it’s all but certain that his next fight will be in the lightweight division.
Hooker revealed that the sacrifice of making 145-pounds was only worth it if he would move closer to the title. Given his current run, he is better off grinding in the 155-pound weight class.
“I couldn’t make 145 if I wanted to… I’m closer to middleweight than I am to featherweight. I feel like I could have stayed at 45, but I feel like a lot of sacrifice goes into that… I feel like I’m in the exact same position in both the weight classes so why not? The extra sacrifice was to get me back in the same position that I was in, you know what I mean…Put a fork in it. I’m out of the conversation.”
Former UFC lightweight champion Rafael dos Anjos has been on Dan Hooker’s radar recently and it certainly is an exciting scrap that the UFC could put together. Both men aren’t afraid to let their hands go and this has ‘Fight of the Night’ potential written all over it.
