If Raiders Had To Ultimately Release Isaac Rochell Then Why Praise Him To Begin With?

Isaac Rochell, a defensive lineman, was released by the Raiders. That announcement couldn’t have come at a worse time.

His response to being terminated was incredibly realistic, as the news came out just hours after the organization had paid tribute to his family on social media.

If Raiders Had To Ultimately Release Isaac Rochell Then Why Praise Him To Begin With?

Like their 5-5 record, it seems that the Raiders’ internal communications are lacking.

After this past weekend’s Veteran’s Day celebration, a video featuring Isaac discussing the influence his elder brother had on him was posted on Tuesday.

Alongside the tweet was a story that delves more into Isaac’s connection with his older brother, Matt, on the official Las Vegas team website.

“It kind of puts things in perspective. Like for him, he got to school, he had his phone taken away, went straight into basic training. So, for me seeing that, it kind of makes you take a step back. … They’re still in school, still playing football, but like I mentioned basic training, survival training, not having your phone when you’re 18, just getting to college. Those are all things that build calluses and make you a little bit tougher,” the now former Raider said about his brother’s initial run at the Air Force Academy before his 10-years of active service.

The article discussed how close the two were as children and how their various college football teams gave them the chance to play against one another.

The touching and motivational film attracted hundreds of thousands of views.

And then Isaac Rochell was let go from the team after just three hours.

To put it mildly, the timing was a little off. Now that they have bad optics, the Raiders are being criticized harshly on social media. Some have even suggested that they used Rochell because of her military background.

Supporters who read the comments section couldn’t help but concur.

“The Raider Way! Give praise and then cut!”

“Someone needs to keep the social media team informed.”

“The Raiders recognize Isaac Rochell by using him to show support for our troops, then release him a few hours later.”

“Huge L.”
