“If I Can’t Call You Direct, I Ain’t Calling You”- Former Super Bowl Winning Teammates Expose an Extremely Odd Habit of Russell Wilson
Russell Wilson has proved to be a costly bet for the Denver Broncos so far this season. This year has seen a lot of changes for the faithful at the Empower Field. Everything from ownership to quarterback position has undergone a major change. While Russell Wilson was believed to be the man to turn things around at Denver, things have not played out as he would have hoped.
Wilson has underperformed severely at Denver so far this season. In addition to that, fans have been put off by his comments regarding both himself and his team, which seem delusional to put it lightly. While the scrutiny on Wilson is at an all-time high, it appears as though things could get a lot worse after recent comments by former teammates Richard Sherman.

In a recent podcast, Richard Sherman and Marshawn Lynch, both former teammates of Wilson, discussed their former quarterback’s struggles. ”He’s on the struggle bus”, Sherman stated. “I really want to reach out to dawg”, replied Lynch. “Yeah, we’ll talk to him… his manager. His manager.” To which Lynch replied, “If I can’t call you direct, I ain’t calling you, especially if I went to war with you.”
This moment on the Richard Sherman podcast perfectly encapsulates why Russell Wilson's personality rubs people the wrong way. Apparently even ex-teammates have to go through his manager to get a hold of him because they don't have his personal phone number. pic.twitter.com/zVx9lxGpXN

The duo further explained in the podcast that Wilson would not share his number with his teammates, rather, they would have to go through his manager in order to speak to him. This can understandably rub a lot of people the wrong way.
Russell Wilson in 2022
The Denver Broncos seem to have made a huge mistake with their Russell Wilson gamble as things stand at the moment. As pointed out by by Dov Kleiman on Twitter, “The #Broncos gave Russell Wilson a $245 million contract to lock him up for 7 years and they’re ranked dead last in points per game in the NFL. They also scarified their future by giving away two 1st round picks, two 2nd round picks and 3 players. This. Is. Bad.”

So far this season, Wilson has thrown for 1,442 yards (13th in the league), 5 touchdowns (tied 23rd in the league), and an average quarterback rating of 35.8. These are not the numbers you would expect from a man who is getting paid close to $50 million a season.
