“I Heard It Is Still Going On so Imma Check Them”- Justin Jones Brings Back to Light the Deflategate Controversy Surrounding the New England Patriots
In game week seven of the 2022 NFL season, the Chicago Bears take on the New England Patriots in what is poised to be an extremely entertaining game. The patriots are -8.5 against the Bears on Monday Night Football and the O/U is set at 39.5. Ahead of the game, DL Justin Jones has a few concerns about Bill Belichick and the Patriots.

In a recent interview, when asked what the first thing that came to his mind when he heard the name Bill Belichick was, Jones said, “Deflated balls. I heard it is still going on so Imma check them things before we go. I am so serious, I heard it is still going on. I am for sure checking it. We play this game with honesty man.”
The Deflategate suggested that the New England Patriots used an illegal process for lowering the inflation of game footballs at the behest of quarterback Tom Brady, who preferred the grip of softer balls. During a surprise and unprecedented inflation check at half-time, the NFL is said to have found proof.

The game was between the Colts and the Patriots in what was the 2014 AFC championship game. The league has since spent upward of $22 million over the course of two years to investigate, litigate and discipline Brady and the organization.
Even though it was not really something that helped the Patriots win the Super Bowl that year, their Super Bowl XLIX win will always be associated with this controversy. Eight years on, some people such as Justin Jones still believe it is being practiced.
New England Patriots and Bill Belichick in 2022
The New England Patriots are 3-3 so far this season. They’re an average team that will most likely not make it into the postseason. Therefore, for Jones to be worried about ball pressures against a team that has a 3-3 record and is struggling for a quarterback does not really make sense.

Also, it was rumored that the pressure of the football was lowered because that is how Brady preferred it, who is not at the Patriots anymore.
