“I Had the Hookah, I Had the Fruit”: Shaquille O’Neal Reveals How Luka Doncic Welcomed Him in Ljubljana
Shaquille O’Neal spent this summer in Europe, which is not surprising given the variety of extracurricular activities he has engaged in since leaving the NBA in 2011. When Shaquille O’Neal visited Slovenia to do a DJ performance, he recently teamed up with Luka Doncic there.
Even though the videos of Doncic and Shaq dancing went viral and were amusing, there was a far deeper reason why Shaq and Doncic were performing on the stage at that Slovenian bar. Doncic is skilled at showing the best respect and hospitality to anyone he knows who travels to his nation.
Despite the fact that Shaq didn’t go to Eastern Europe on Luka’s orders, Doncic made sure to look after the basketball icon once he landed there.

Shaquille O’Neal experiences Luka Doncic’s hospitality
On his “The Big Podcast,” Shaq allegedly stated that Luka arranged for his airport pickup and transfer to a four-bedroom villa that was already packed with pizza, fruit, and hookah.
“Shoutout to Luka. When I arrived at Luka’s town, some people picked me up. They drove me to a mansion that Luka had set up for me. I had the pizza there. I had the hookah, I had the fruit. They escorted me to the show. Then Luka said, ‘Shaq, nothing’s gonna happen to you in my town, Mr. O’Nealovich’. That’s what they call me over there. Shoutout to Luka and Goran Dragic for setting it up for me. I got there, and Luka said, ‘we know you’re staying in a hotel but we want you to stay someplace else’. It was right there on the water, a four-bedroom villa. He had that bloomings hookah with him.”

The Hall of Famer also talked about how Doncic’s arrangement for the house stay disrupted his initial plans, which called for him to remain in a hotel. Doncic is getting ready for his sixth NBA season, which won’t involve playing alongside Dragic for the Mavericks. This offseason, the seasoned guard signed a one-year contract with the Chicago Bulls.
