Huge Blow to New York Jets as Duane Brown Confirmed Out for Sunday – How Soon Can He Play Again This Season?
During training camp, the Jets offensive line emerged as the team’s biggest concern. The unit is now a huge cause for concern going into Sunday’s Week 1 clash with the Ravens after suffering yet another important injury. According to head coach Robert Saleh, left tackle Duane Brown of the Jets will miss his second straight practice this week while having a shoulder injury assessed.
Duane Brown missed practice on Thursday for the second day in a row due to a shoulder injury. Brown’s shoulder was being assessed, and according to Jets head coach Robert Saleh, therefore he wouldn’t be present for practice.
Saleh did not offer any further information because he had no planned press conference on Thursday. He won’t play against the Ravens on Sunday and might not play again for a while.

When to expect the return of Duane Brown?
The Jets signed Brown after losing offensive lineman Mekhi Becton to a season-ending knee injury, so Brown’s injury is a significant blow to them. Given that Brown was acquired after Mekhi Becton suffered a season-ending injury, the Jets’ options to fill Brown’s spot against the Ravens are all less than ideal.

Duane Brown might go to the injured reserves. If that happens, it’s likely that George Fant will switch to left tackle and either Max Mitchell or Conor McDermott will move to right tackle, with Mitchell taking McDermott’s spot as McDermott is just making his return.
The Jets may get away with it if Brown is gone for only a short while. However, if he loses a sizable amount of time—which is undoubtedly conceivable given that he is 37 years old and already hurt before the first regular-season game—the Jets may have a significant offensive line issue.
The Jets, who have a history of preseason injuries, thought they would need a significant Year Two turnaround from Saleh and Wilson, but that’s going to be harder than they anticipated.
