How many Super Bowl rings did Julian Edelman win with the New England Patriots?

Julian Edelman, the legendary New England Patriots wide receiver, announced his retirement from football last year. An emotional Edelman arrived at Gilette Stadium, holding back tears like a winner. It was to offer a goodbye message to the Patriots organization and audience live on his own social media account, noting, “Nothing in my career has ever come easily.” And, predictably, this will not be simple either. ‘I’m a go till the wheels come off,’ I’ve always said. And they’ve finally fallen off.”

Julian Edelman won the Super Bowl three times with the New England Patriots (2015, 2018, and 2019) and was voted the game’s Most Valuable Player in 2019. Edelman is one of just seven receivers in history to win Super Bowl MVP. And he earned it after catching 10 of his twelve targets for 142 yards against the Los Angeles Rams.

Edelman will also be remembered for scoring the Patriots’ game-winning fourth-quarter touchdown against the Seattle Seahawks in the 2015 Super Bowl. With little over two minutes remaining, QB Tom Brady hit his favorite receiver, Edelman, from two yards out to give New England a 28-24 win.

The 5-foot-10 receiver ranks second all-time in playoff receptions and receiving yards, following only the greatest receiver of all time, Jerry Rice, in addition to his three Super Bowl titles and Super Bowl LIII MVP honor.

Even while such accomplishments are nothing to laugh at, Edelman is undoubtedly one of the greatest postseason receivers in history. They don’t take away from the reality that he was a solid receiver throughout the regular season and throughout his career rather than a spectacular receiver.

Since being chosen in 2009, Edelman, 34, has spent his entire 11-year NFL career with the Patriots. He is the franchise’s all-time leader in catches (620) and receiving yards (6,822). In a statement, Patriots coach Bill Belichick called Edelman the “perfect competitor.”

“Julian has it everything in terms of what marks an exceptional NFL career—wins, championships, output,” Belichick remarked. “Few players, period, can equal Julian’s achievements. But when you consider his career trajectory and longevity, the club is much more exclusive.”

Edelman was a clutch player for Bill Belichick’s Patriots over the years. His uncanny opportunity to bring up trumps in crucial moments will be the stuff of football folklore in coming years. And his list of honors as a receiver puts him in some pretty elite company. Statistically, his stats may not compare to those of Hall of Famers Randy Moss and Jerry Rice. But Edelman was a clutch player in the biggest moments for those teams.
