Joe Montana is a productive quarterback who has made a significant contribution to the San Francisco 49ers. The 49ers had the most successful playoff runs and won four of their five Super Bowls with him on the roster. In the 1981 playoffs, Joe Montana led the 49ers to their first-ever Super Bowl appearance. In the 1981 NFC Championship game against the Dallas Cowboys, he completed a memorable game-winning touchdown throw to send his team to the Super Bowl XVI. In the contest against the Cincinnati Bengals, he rushed for a touchdown and completed one touchdown pass. 26-21 was the final score, and Montana was named Super Bowl MVP. Against the Miami Dolphins, in 1985, he won his second Super Bowl (38-16).

After completing three touchdown passes and setting a league record for passing yards in a single game, Montana won his second NFL MVP award (331). Montana met the Cincinnati Bengals one more in 1989’s XXIII Super Bowl, which he won for the third time. He completed 23 of 36 passes throughout the contest, setting a new Super Bowl record for passing yards (357). With just 34 seconds remaining, Montana delivered a flawless touchdown throw to John Taylor that gave the 49ers the victory. After winning the Super Bowl XXIV in 1990, Montana became the first player to win the award three times.

He threw five touchdown passes in one Super Bowl, a record at the time. With a 55-10 victory score over the Denver Broncos, the San Francisco 49ers won the Super Bowl thanks to Montana’s brilliance.
