The Denver Nuggets are a professional basketball club headquartered in Denver, Colorado. The Nuggets are a part of the NBA’s Conference Northwest Division. The Denver Larks were created as a charter franchise of the American Basketball Association (ABA) in 1967 but changed their name to Rockets before the first season.  In 1974, the Rockets changed their team name once more to the Nuggets. Following the team name change, the Nuggets competed for the final ABA Championship championship in 1976 but were defeated by the New York Nets.

It is located on Speer Boulevard, a major roadway in downtown Denver, and is serviced by two neighboring Interstate 25 exits. A light rail station is located on the complex’s western side. It is the home arena of the Denver Nuggets of the National Basketball Association (NBA), the Colorado Avalanche of the National Hockey League (NHL), and the Colorado Mammoth of the National Lacrosse League. It opened in 1999. (NLL). The basketball stadium can hold up to 18,000 fans for a game.

The squad had some success, qualifying for the ABA Playoffs every season from 1967 to the 1976 ABA playoffs, where they fell in the finals. After the ABA-NBA merger in 1976, the franchise entered the NBA and qualified for the playoffs in nine consecutive seasons in the 1980s and ten straight seasons from 2004 to 2013. However, they have not been in the NBA Finals since their final year in the ABA, making them the only one of the four surviving former ABA clubs never to reach the NBA Finals.
