According to ESPN Stats & Information analysis, the Packers were $48,910,955 above their projected cap for the 2022 season in February. Nine clubs are above the cap, but only the Saints are worse off, with a cap deficit of $74,174,019 dollars. Even with their salary cap issues, the Green Bay Packers are likely to have little spending power when it comes to signing free agents from outside the team. However, I’m confident that a low-level acquisition or two will be made at some point.
The Green Bay Packers have enough cap-cutting options to bring back a big percentage of the 2021 roster if they so want. There are drawbacks to doing so, such as losing future financial flexibility, but there are a lot of methods to generate the necessary cap space to get things back on track.
