Houston Texans Releases New Statement on Deshaun Watson’s Case

The Houston Texans released a new statement on Deshaun Watson via Texans officials Cal McNair (CEO of the Texans), Hannah McNair (philanthropist wife to Cal), and Hannah McNair (co-founder and owner of Texans) regarding his case surrounding sexual misconduct allegations from 30 various women.

In the Texans’ statement for Deshaun Watson, the McNairs reported their shock, as they were unaware of any such alleged misconduct. They aren’t admitting that Watson did anything wrong, but rather used their platform to assert that the Texans franchise makes a clear stand against such wrongful behavior and wants to move forward to make sure that in the future, everyone is respected, and no such behavior is to ever happen.

This statement comes after Tony Buzbee, the representing lawyer for the women who filed lawsuits, released another statement which indicated that 30 women, who had or wanted to make claims against the Houston Texans, resolved their claims. The details of each resolution are confidential. He noted that it takes incredible resilience for these women to come out and accuse someone of wrongdoing, especially if they’re going up against someone in a powerful position.

Deshaun Watson still has 4 civil suits that he faces. Ever since March 2021, Watson has been facing sexual misconduct allegations for harassing women during massage appointments throughout the year prior. Watson has denied all allegations as they poured in one after the other ever since Buzbee filed the first one. He was traded from the Texans to the Cleveland Browns following the 2021 season.

Watson’s case blew up when the New York Times published a very detailed investigation into the case, going into depth about how the Texans were actually involved in Watson’s behavior. According to the author, the Texans provided Watson with non-disclosure agreements which he would use in these appointments to his advantage. If these massage people tried accusing Watson of anything, they would effectively terminate the NDA and pay fines. Watson’s situation is still at large, but he hasn’t faced any repercussions thus far.
