Gainesville High School star Jeremy Medina, 18, was hit in the head on November 20 and has been in the hospital in a coma ever since.

This Monday, his family gave their confirmation that he will be taken off life support and donate his organs.

Medina leaned into a batting cage net while a teammate was hitting balls, according to local media reports, according to Shattered administrator Jamie Green.

“As the player followed through on his swing, Jeremy leaned into the net and was struck in the head,” Green stated.

“There was no horseplay, misconduct or intent.”

In a secret meeting on Wednesday, the manager broke the news of Medina’s destiny to his horrified teammates. Counselors have been sent to console the bewildered pupils.

Prior to the incident, according to Medina’s family, he had been offered a scholarship to play collegiate baseball.

Since the tragedy, the neighborhood has rallied behind the lad, with one local placard urging people to “Pray for Jeremy” as his prognosis grew bleak.

“The most amazing power of Jesus Christ has been the foundation of our strength, my family’s strength, and my strength since day one,” the older Medina declared.

“Some well-wishers are with us in prayer and support right now, even though they don’t even know my son or my family.”

Medina was struck unconscious and was not able to regain consciousness, according to medical professionals.
