“He’s Ducking Me for Three Years”- UFC Bantamweight Contender Merab Dvalishvili Attempts to Expose Sean O’Malley

One of the most avoided fighters in the UFC’s bantamweight division, Merab Dvalishvili, spoke to Ariel Helwani on a recent iteration of ‘The MMA Hour’ and talked about a potentially colliding with fan-favorite star Sean O’Malley.

Apart from Khamzat Chimaev, Sean O’Malley is arguably one of the biggest stars to emerge onto the scene in the last five years and he’s truly taken the roster by storm. He commands a massive fanbase and has been putting up stellar performances once the cage door is closed behind him. Moreover, his fights almost always end with a visceral knockout, making him a must-watch talent.

Merab Dvalishvili has his sights on Sean O’Malley

Dvalishvili claimed that ‘Sugar’ Sean has been ducking him for three years despite repeated call-outs made by the Georgian fighter. Keeping that in mind, Dvalishvili also listed out some other names he wants to fight.

“I would love to fight ‘Sugar’ Sean O’Malley but he has a fight already. He’s ducking me for three years. Last three years, I’ve been calling him. Who else? Maybe, I would love to fight ‘Chito’ Vera. I would love a fight with Dominick Cruz, Cory Sandhagen.”

Additionally, Merab Dvalishvili went on record to say that he was ‘blessed’ to have a friend like Aljamain Sterling, who has been a loud advocate of the Georgian fighter. Dvalishvili is keen to showcase his skill set and validate Sterling’s belief in him.

“I’m blessed I have friends like him. What else should I say? It already says everything because that’s how true of a friend he is and he’s the best. I learn so much from him and still learning everything. He’s the reason why I’m like, where I fight now and I’m just thankful, grateful. He’s a great man, we never fight each other”

“I don’t even think about title yet. As long as Aljo is champion and Aljo will be champion long as he wants to be.” [h/t middeeasy.com]

Merab Dvalishvili is due for a big fight in the UFC and fellow bantamweights will soon be unable to avoid a match-up against him as a inches closer to contention.
