“He’s Aging, He Doesn’t Care as Much as He Used To”- Former Buccaneers Quarterback Believes Tom Brady ‘Regrets’ His Decision to Return to NFL Action

Tom Brady decided to return to the NFL after a retirement that lasted a mere 40-days. The seven-time Super Bowl champion is currently playing in what is his 23rd season as a professional. However, things are not going as smoothly as Brady would have liked.

Six games into the season and the Buccaneers are 3-3 so far this season. In their most recent game, the Bucs succumbed to a 20-18 loss against the Steelers, where Tom Brady lost his cool at his offense multiple times. Brady was seen yelling at his offense, urging them to step up their game as they fell behind the Steelers. Brady completed 25 of his 40 pass attempts for 243 yards and a touchdown, but it was not enough to guide his team to a win.

Is Tom Brady done in the NFL?

In a recent episode of a show, former Bucs quarterback Chris Simms shared a rather bold take on Brady and his season so far. He said, “I think most of football thinks Tom Brady regrets that he’s playing right now. I mean, I know it doesn’t matter. No matter who I talk to when the subject comes up, it it that that is one of the first things. Brady probably regrets playing this year. It doesn’t seem like the same.”

Simms continued, “From the Tom versus Tom documentary: ‘If you want to compete against me, you have to sacrifice your life because I’m sacrificing mine.’ That was his mindset not that long ago. The mindset has changed. He’s aging. He doesn’t care as much as he used to, but he chose to sign on for one more tour of duty when he isn’t able to muster the mental will that he used to be able to harness for football season.”

While Brady is not playing up to the unbelievably high standards he has set for himself, many believe his personal life has a lot to do with it.

Brady’s decision to return to NFL action cost him his marriage to his wife of 13 years Gisele Bundchen. Such events in life can be extremely tough to navigate, even if you are Tom Brady.
