“He’d Rather Be In Concussion Protocol Than the Backup to a Mediocre Qb”- Fans Roast Baker Mayfield for a Bizarre Post-win Celebration

Thursday night football this week featured a game between the Carolina Panthers and Atlanta Falcons. At the end of the final whistle, it was the Panthers who walked away with a 25-15 win over the Falcons and in the process improved their record this season to 3-7. Although the record is abysmal, a rare win is still a ray of hope for the Panthers‘ faithful.

After the win, former starting quarterback Baker Mayfield was seen celebrating the win. In a clip posted on Twitter, the former Cleveland Browns man is seen congratulating all the players in an extremely peculiar manner. Mayfield shakes the player’s hands before violently bashing his head against their helmet without wearing one himself. This obviously had some extremely interesting fan reactions. Here are some of the best fan reactions to Mayfield’s celebration.

One fan said, “Baker in 5 yrs post NFL and living with CTE”

Another fan added, “I’m guessing he’d rather be in concussion protocol than the backup to a mediocre QB.”

“Baker did a great job of making tonight about him”- added another fan.

“Doing the most for a highlight  . Now we know why his throwing is terrible during the game . Put this man through concussion protocol.”– commented another fan.

“This will be first segment tomorrow on undisputed”– Another fan chimed in with this take

Another fan added, “He’s trying to Speed run CTE”

A closer look at Baker Mayfield and the Carolina Panthers

Baker Mayfield’s journey in the NFL thus far has been underwhelming. He entered the league as a Heisman trophy winner and naturally there were a lot of expectations from him. Unfortunately, things did not pan out for him and the Browns.

Therefore, a switch to the Panthers this season made a lot of sense for all parties involved. Mayfield initially started as the main quarterback, but his form demoted him to the bench where he has been over the past few weeks. Mayfield has stated that losing the starting position has not dimmed his motivation and that he will be back in the starting role soon.
