“He Wants to Fight Usman One Last Time”- Manager Reveals Jorge Masvidal Is ‘Haunted’ by the Two Losses and Aims to Get the Win Back

Jorge Masvidal has been in the UFC for close to a decade now. During that time, ‘Gamebred’ has faced the very best the UFC has had to offer across two weight classes. The Cuban-born fighter made his debut at lightweight and then moved up a weight class to 170-pounds where he established himself as one of the biggest names in the sport.

Masvidal has achieved almost everything in the sport. Unfortunately, he has failed to realize his ultimate dream of becoming a world champion in the UFC falling short twice against Kamaru Usman, the pound-for-pound king in the UFC at the moment.

In a recent interview, Masvidal’s manager shared that his client is eyeing a third fight against Usman. He said, “Masvidal was doing good in that first round and then he gets caught and he gets KO’d which by the way was a vicious knockout, I’m not taking nothing away from him [Usman] so that haunts him [Masvidal] a little bit. He wants to fight somebody who can get his name back in there in that top five. [He wants to] beat somebody and then he wants to fight Usman one last time and then that might be it…”

‘Gamebred’ has faced Usman twice. The first time, a short-notice fight on Fight Island in Abu Dhabi where Masvidal was dominated from the very first bell and lost a lopsided unanimous decision against ‘The Nigerian Nightmare’. The second time around, Usman delivered one of the most brutal knockouts in UFC championship fights as he absolutely separated Masvidal from consciousness in front of his come crowd.

Jorge Masvidal’s path back to a title fight

‘Gamebred’ is just two wins away from potentially challenging for the title once again given how big a draw he is.

The common consensus is that his next fight will be against Gilbert Burns later this year, subject to his ongoing lawsuit against Colby Covington getting settled. If Jorge Masvidal is able to secure a win against Burns, he will just be one more win away from getting a third shot at the UFC welterweight title.
