‘He might be the best player in the world’ – NBA fans react as Giannis Antetokounmpo’s triple-double helps Bucks win Game 1 over Celtics

In what was a rather convincing East semifinals Game 1 win for the Milwaukee Bucks against the Boston Celtics, Giannis Antetokounmpo stole the show. The ‘Greek Freak’ racked up 24 points with 13 rebounds and 12 assists on Sunday to lead the defending NBA champions to a 101-89 victory in their first game of the second-round playoff series against the Celtics.

Jrue Holiday also played a supporting role for the Bucks as the 31-year-old managed 25 points and 10 rebounds at the TD Garden. Bobby Portis also had 15 points and 11 boards as the Bucks stormed to a comfortable 1-0 lead in the best of seven series.

On the other hand, for the Celtics, Jayson Tatum was able to score 21 points while Jaylen Brown added 12 points for the home side. Al Horford notched up 12 points and grabbed 10 rebounds but it wasn’t enough to stop the Bucks from taking the lead in the series.

The second game of the series will be played at the TD Garden in Boston on Tuesday night. Nevertheless, Antetokounmpo’s brilliant outing was the highlight of the game on Sunday.

NBA Fans heap praise on Giannis Antetokounmpo, label Bucks star as ‘best in the world’

Antetokounmpo drew plenty of praise from fans on social media after his monstrous display in Game 1 against the Celtics. His triple-double paved the way for Mike Budenholzer’s side to take a crucial advantage in the tie. The six-time All-Star also made two important blocks during vital stages in the game.

On Twitter, one fan wrote, “I think Giannis Antetokounmpo might just be the best basketball player in the world right now and there’s hardly anyone who is as dominant as him” while another added, “Giannis showing all of the NBA community why he is rated so highly. He was so damn good today.”

A third commented, “Haters keep hating, but Giannis keeps delivering at the highest level. Another triple-double in a crunch game shows why he is among the top players.” A fourth stated, “The Bucks are still favourites to win the NBA Championship this year as long as they have Giannis Antetokounmpo in their ranks.” Even NBA legend Earvin Magic Johnson waxed lyrical on Antetokounmpo.
