“Happy For Him”: Shaquille O’Neal Praises Zion Williamson After Ridiculing Him Earlier
Due to a foot ailment, Zion Williamson has not played in the NBA since last season. He was supposed to make a comeback early in this season, but the New Orleans Pelicans postponed it every month until they gave up on it entirely. Given his history of injuries, the young forward has expressed some concerns about his health, and it appears that the Pelicans are being cautious about that.
The Pelicans are prepared to offer Zion a 5-year maximum deal, but they cannot guarantee the whole amount of the contract. The Pels are looking at all of their possibilities for Zion, despite the fact that the youngster has shown a desire to remain with the team that selected him for the NBA.
While some see this as wise for the team, others don’t believe it’s fair for the player and argue that he should accept a shorter contract so that he may quickly join another team. Shaquille O’Neal recently praised the young star after ridiculing him for months.
Shaquille O’Neal showers praise on Zion Williamson
“I looked at Zion Williamson’s potential to be a dog, so I can just tell him the highlights and, like, I don’t really need to watch a full game.”
“I’m happy for him, I hope he has a great season.”
Williamson suffered foot surgery during the 2021 season, which caused him to miss the whole previous campaign. Williamson is most likely going to play in the 2022–23 season, and he will do so with a new contract. Zion reportedly agreed to a five-year, $231 million rookie maximum contract.
He was selected first overall in the 2019 NBA Draft, beating over players like Ja Morant of the Memphis Grizzlies and others. Since then, Zion has had a difficult time in the NBA.
