Hackenberg Caught Wind Of Dave Portnoy’s Pizzafest Controversy

Before the Washington Post’s smear piece on him was even published on September 22, 2023, Barstool Sports founder Dave Portnoy fired back. He did so by phoning one of the piece’s writers and criticizing her journalistic ethics.

Hackenberg Caught Wind Of Dave Portnoy’s Pizzafest Controversy

The claimed hit article addressed Dave Portnoy’s contentious background while attempting to figure out why Pizzerias were partnering with him for his One Bite Pizza Fest.

The Washington Post referenced a blog post from the Barstool Sports founder, who claimed that former Jets quarterback Christian Hackenberg was “f-king gorgeous” in the piece, which focused on the criticism around Portnoy’s event in Brooklyn.

The One Bite Pizza Fest, which was based on Dave’s popular One Bite Pizza review series, was also criticized by Chef and Food Writer Kenji Lopez Alt. The chef recently criticized the festival in an Instagram story. Kenji’s narrative cautioned pizzerias and the general public against attending Portnoy’s event since they would be supporting a man with a supposedly extremely problematic past.

Portnoy responded to one X user who stated that was “the best part” of The Washington Post piece, saying, “This is objectively funny.” And yes Hackenberg was one piece of ass.”

When Hackenberg saw Portnoy’s tweet, he replied, “Thanks Dave,” with a winking face emoji.

“You’re welcome,” wrote Portnoy. “I call it as I see it.”

Hackenberg is the quarterbacks coach at Winslow Township High School in New Jersey right now.

He was a starter at Penn State from 2013 to 2015 before being drafted in the second round by the Jets in 2016.

Hackenberg never appeared in a regular-season game during his two seasons with the Jets and also saw no action with the Raiders, Eagles, or Bengals.

He also failed as the starting quarterback with the Alliance of American Football’s Memphis Express, which disbanded in 2019.

Dave Portnoy’s One Bite pizza evaluations, in which he takes a bite out of a restaurant’s pizza before rating it, rocketed him to popularity as a prominent food critic. Dave Portnoy’s devoted admirers include pizza reviewers and Barstool supporters, and he has a gigantic 1.05 million YouTube subscribers and an even larger 4.5 million Instagram followers.

However, Portnoy has not found favour with everyone and is a source of contention. Some of these allegations were expounded on in The Washington Post’s claimed hit story on him.
