Grizzlies Ja Morant’s Injury Might Put His Presence For The Playoffs In Jeopardy
In Game 1 of the first-round series between the two clubs on Sunday afternoon, Memphis’ star guard Ja Morant left the game midway through the fourth quarter in Memphis’ 128-112 defeat to the Los Angeles Lakers due to what seemed to be a hand injury.

After trying a dunk and connecting with Anthony Davis, a big player for the Los Angeles Lakers, in midair, Morant fell awkwardly on his extended right hand. Morant quickly left the game and went back to the locker room, clearly in discomfort. He eventually made it back to the Grizzlies bench, but he left the game. When he sat back down on the seat, his hand and wrist looked to be bandaged.
Morant played 30 minutes and finished with 18 points, 6 rebounds, 2 assists, and 2 steals before suffering a hand injury.

Good news for Memphis was provided by the X-ray results on Morant’s hand, according to Grizzlies coach Taylor Jenkins after the game. Prior to Wednesday’s Game 2 of the series, Morant will continue to be assessed over the coming few days. The All-Star guard admitted to reporters that he is in “a good bit of pain” and that his participation in the upcoming game is “in jeopardy.”
After the defeat, the 23-year-old told reporters that he couldn’t even untie a pair of socks with his right hand and said that “it seems like it’s one thing after another.”

The Grizzlies were 10-8 without Morant this year after going 20-5 without him last season.
The Lakers will need to perform well in Game 2 on Wednesday because there are still many threats, even if Memphis collapsed when Morant exited the game on Sunday.
Ja Morant-Grizzlies-hand/wrist-I have seen and imaged a lot of sports injuries in my day-the way he fell from so high and landed w so much weight on a flexed hand and wrist, there have to be severe bone bruises and/or non displaced fxs and/or ligament tears-MRI next #InjuryAlert…

Jaren Jackson Jr. of the Grizzlies scored a game-high 31 points, while Desmond Bane added 22. Before being hurt, Morant had 18 points.
Jenkins, 38, said that Morant will have more testing done before it is known if he will be available for the remainder of the first-round series.
