At the end of his time with the Green Bay Packers, relations between Aaron Rodgers and the team seemed to be deteriorating. It seems that both sides were prepared for a change after spending 18 years with the squad. After that, General Manager Brian Gutekunst started claiming that he hadn’t heard from and couldn’t reach his quarterback.

According to The Athletic, Rodgers and general manager Brian Gutekunst are still at odds over his departure from Green Bay. Not only did Rodgers’ agent, David Dunn, reportedly want the Packers to dismiss Gutekunst in 2021, a year after the team used a first-round draft selection to acquire Rodgers’ replacement, but the new Jets quarterback now holds his former general manager accountable for failing to connect with him and gain his trust.

According to Schneidman, the QB and GM had planned a face-to-face meeting for late January while Gutekunst was visiting Southern California for the NFLPA Collegiate Bowl, but the two never got together. Rodgers claims that he responded to “morning” texts from Gutekunst “(that) night or the next morning or the next day.”

Rodgers revealed via The Athletic that he hadn’t ignored his former GM:
“Did Brian text me more than I texted him? Yeah, but did I ghost him? No. I texted him back. There was back-and-forths that we had and so this is the story you wanna go with? You’re gonna stand on this hill of austerity and say that arguably in the conversation of the best player in your franchise history, you’re gonna say I couldn’t get a hold of him and that’s why we had to move on?

Rodgers’ agent David Dunn allegedly phoned Packers President/CEO Mark Murphy to inquire about Rodgers’ desire to return to Green Bay, according to Schneidman, who talked with a team insider who asked to remain unnamed. The request was to move Rodgers or dismiss general manager Brian Gutekunst.
Rodgers referred to Dunn, who was unavailable for comment, when asked about the condition.
In March, GM Brian Gutekunst told reporters he tried to contact Aaron Rodgers "many times" to discuss how he fit into the team’s future.
Rodgers credited the disconnect to the Packers not using FaceTime to call him.https://t.co/jogZIwYdYc
