Giants Jihad Ward Shoved Jets QB Aaron Rodgers On Field: Explains Why

After colliding with the New York Giants defender a little while after he had let the ball go, Aaron Rodgers had some harsh words for Jihad Ward. The quarterback accepted his offer, but the Giants player responded that he didn’t even know who the Jets quarterback was when he was asked to show some respect.

Giants Jihad Ward Shoved Jets QB Aaron Rodgers On Field: Explains Why

Ward, a 29-year-old defensive lineman for the Giants in his seventh season, said on Wednesday that pushing the Jets’ great quarterback Aaron Rodgers late in the game was motivated by retribution.

Ward said that he was offended by Rodgers’ laughing at a blind-side hit by Jets receiver Randall Cobb on Giants cornerback Bobby McCain. This was in addition to Rodgers making fun of him during a mic’d-up encounter that was broadcast on HBO’s “Hard Knocks.”

The future Hall of Famer sent him a dire warning:

“Don’t poke the bear”

“Everybody going to get pissed off at that. The whole team was pissed off, you know what I’m saying?” said Ward. “It’s preseason and all that stuff and you’re going to do some reaction like that?

“It’s cool, though. That’s how they roll. I think we play them soon, it is what it is.”

“That’s f–king bulls—, bro,” Rodgers said to Ward. “What the f–k is that? Show some respect. C’mon, what the f–k is that? Five damn steps.”

Later, Rodgers provided further details regarding the conversation.

“I said, ‘I don’t even know who you are.’” Rodgers said.

Ward responded by saying, “I don’t know who you are, bro. I don’t know who the f–k you are!”

“And I said, ‘Bulls–t,” Rodgers responded.

“There’s a reason why I acted like that from the first place,’’ Ward said. “There’s a reason why I shoved him like I did. The reason why is because I don’t let any of my mother-f–king teammates get knocked over. And Randall — what’s his name? — Randall Cobb? He knew what he did.

“That was some cheap s–t. If I see anything on the field, I’ve got to do what I’ve gotta do.

“At the end of the day, I don’t want anyone out here thinking I was trying to cause a scene,’’ Ward went on. “There’s a reason why I do things. That was some sucker s–t that Randall Cobb and Aaron Rodgers did, and I’m stamping on that.

“I ain’t hiding from nothing. Laugh now, cry later.

On October 29, at MetLife Stadium, the Giants and Jets will square off once more. The Jets, who have received a lot of preseason attention, are playing against a team that made the playoffs the previous year but has somehow slipped local notice this summer.
