Gervonta Davis vs Ryan Garcia Is Official: Date, Start Time, Tickets, Card & Odds

The contract for the first super fight of 2023 has been signed. The location of the meeting between Ryan Garcia vs Gervonta Davis, which is scheduled on April 22 in Las Vegas, has not yet been decided. The event will be shown live on Showtime. On Friday, Davis declared the fight to be official.

The two upcoming superstars had long advocated for a fight, with each man saying that the other side was trying to avoid a confrontation. Both men have had successful careers since then thanks to their outstanding performances.

About Davis

Davis, a 2012 Golden Gloves champion, debuted professionally in 2013. Davis, a multi-division champion, defeated Yuriorkis Gamboa to win the WBA (Regular) lightweight championship in 2019. Davis defeated Hector Luis Garcia in his most recent match by TKO in January.

For this duel to take place, Davis overcame one obstacle. In November 2020, “Tank” showed up in court for his claimed part in a hit-and-run incident. He admitted admission to four moving violations. Davis will be sentenced on May 5 as a result of the court rejecting a plea bargain. He is suspected of leaving the scene of an accident involving many persons, including a pregnant mother, and is now being held on 14 counts.

If the assault goes unpunished, Davis may spend up to seven years in jail. However, that will not affect the Garcia fight.

About Gracia

Garcia debuted as a professional in 2016. In 2021, the 24-year-old defeated Luke Campbell to capture the WBC lightweight interim championship. Shortly after, he took a brief vacation from boxing. He was scheduled to face Javier Fortuna in April 2021, but he chose to focus on his mental health instead. He would have hand surgery later. Last April, “KingRy” made a comeback and defeated Emmanuel Tagoe by a unanimous vote.

In his most recent match, Garcia defeated Fortuna by TKO in July. He chose to skip a bout in January so that he could concentrate on Davis and has 19 knockout victories.

Davis’ lightweight championship will be on the line since the contest will be at catchweight. If he loses, he is the only one who may activate the rematch clause.
