Gardner Minshew Compliments Anthony Richardson, A First-Round Choice Of The Colts: ‘he’s got everything you want in a QB’
With Gardner Minshew and the newly selected Anthony Richardson taking the place of Nick Foles and Matt Ryan as the quarterback, the Indianapolis Colts underwent a significant off-season quarterback makeover.

The Florida standout was selected by the Colts with the fourth overall pick, and it is anticipated that Richardson and Minshew will compete for the starting job this season. Although Minshew is a recent addition to the NFL after leaving the Philadelphia Eagles, where he backed up Jalen Hurts, he brings with him a wealth of knowledge from his two seasons with the Jacksonville Jaguars.
After Hurts’ final season with the Eagles, Minshew may be the one who understands Hurts’ game the best out of anyone since he has been around some incredible NFL talents. His most recent remarks on Richardson may therefore imply that the Colts have drafted a real talent.
Gardner Minshew on Anthony Richardson:
"I've been really impressed. A lot of times, the bigger guys with the big arms aren't as quick with some of the RPO stuff and the underneath (stuff). … His feet are very quick, and I think he gets the ball out and can process fast." pic.twitter.com/kirEvJlr1I

The Colts then picked Anthony Richardson as the fourth overall choice in the NFL Draft, which took place in April.
Early in 2023, Minshew may still start for the Colts. But everyone is aware that it is just fleeting. Richardson will serve as the brand’s spokesperson. He was chosen to be that, and Minshew is aware of this. However, he is also quite happy about the Colts’ good choice.
On Wednesday, Minshew congratulated Richardson and expressed his admiration for his swift processing speed.

“I’ve been really impressed because a lot of the time the bigger guys with the bigger arms aren’t as quick with some of the RPO stuff and the underneath passes,” Minshew said, according to NFL.com. “He’s very quick, and his feet are very quick, and I think he can get the ball out and process fast.”
The ball jumps out of his hand, which is obviously the first thing that stands noticed, Minshew remarked. “In a physical sense, you have everything you need. From that perspective, simply seeing him makes you think, “Wow, this dude’s really got a chance.”

Then, being around him and observing how he operates, how he accepts criticism, and how he wants to learn and improve are all very, really encouraging.
Prior to the 2023 NFL Draft, Richardson and Minshew exercised together in Florida; they are currently teammates on the Colts. Although Richardson is anticipated to be the team’s standout player in the future, Minshew could be hoping to retain his starting position for one more season while his teammate is still a rookie.

Minshew is a professional. He’s not denying what he sees.
However, based on Minshew’s glowing support for Richardson on Wednesday, it appears that there is no acrimonious rivalry within the them.
