Full list of Cleveland Browns Roster Cuts ahead of NFL 2022-23 season
The Cleveland Browns roster of 53 players features solid consistency on defense, some promising elements on offense, as well as other potential areas for additions, and a fresh special team pairing that should be an improvement.
We have made the following roster moves:
– Re-signed DT Sheldon Day
– Signed DE Stephen Weatherly
– Signed WR Ja'Marcus Bradley and G Michael Dunn to exclusive rights tenders— Cleveland Browns (@Browns) April 18, 2022
Only DTs Taven Bryan and Jordan Elliott are expected to replace all of the Browns’ current starters on defense, who made up nine of the team’s 11 starters last season. Last year, when the Browns finished the year with one of the league’s best defenses, 17 of the defense’s 26 players were returnees.
QB Jacoby Brissett will lead the Browns’ offense to start the season, and Joshua Dobbs, who had a strong preseason and outstanding agility, will serve as his backup. Here are some more key players on the Cleveland Browns roster.
Five wide receivers, five running backs, two tight ends, and five wide receivers make up the first roster’s skill positions. TE David Njoku will likely take on his greatest role in the offense as he enters his sixth NFL season and the first year of the sizable contract extension the Browns granted him in June. WR Amari Cooper was one of the major offseason additions and will be expected to pace the passing game. Harrison Bryant, a third-year veteran, is positioned behind him.
In addition, the Cleveland Browns roster will still have one of the strongest and most talented groups of running backs in the league, headlined by Nick Chubb and Kareem Hunt. In training camp, rookie fifth-round pick Jerome Ford also showed promise, joining D’Ernest Johnson as one of the best backups.
The Browns prioritized special teams throughout the summer, drafting rookie K Cade York in the fourth round and veteran Corey Bojorquez, who is in his fifth season. York was one of the preseason’s most remarkable players and demonstrated an incredibly strong leg.

Through waiver claims and free agency signings, the Browns can alter their roster in the coming days. They’ll also try to put together a 16-man practice squad, a group of athletes that contribute significantly throughout the season and provide extra depth in the event that an injury occurs on the active roster.
